Well it's almost our last week in the UK; we fly out to Christchurch on Monday 25th Feb. Feeling really nervious now :roll .
I made the two mile walk to work yesterday for the last time and then had to struggle home laden with goodbye gifts. It all feels really strange at the moment.
One thing that has amazed me is how family members I have not seen for years have suddenly crept out of the woodwork, and all of them want to stay in touch.....weird.
For those applying for IRD numbers from the UK, we only posted our forms 3 weeks ago and were supprised that they arrived at our UK address this morning, they were very quick.
Well better get back to the packing.:D

The last weeks or so is like countdown........... We both worked fulltime until a week before we were dur to fly, which left us with just one week to clean the house up - nightmare!! We dont know where the time went!!

Have a safe trip and don't forget to get in touch with the christchurch forumites if you need any help when you arrive
if it helps any - its a gorgeous day today, blue skies and sunshine, I'm about to pop to the supermarket (with the roof down because being NZ, a) japanese cars are cheap and b)no one is going to slash a soft-top just for the hell of it, or steal stuff from it if I leave it with the roof down), unload the shopping in the garage that connects to the house, then do some stuff in the garden, chill out on the patio and admire the peace and tranquility of having four acres and watch the cats chasing butterflies. Maybe even pop to the beach for an hour or two.
now had this been the UK, for me personally, the picture used to be I'd have spent ten mins fighting for a space in tesco's or driven 20 mins to waitrose to avoid the crowds, got stressed in the supermarket, queued up ages to pay, struggled from my parking space near my flat with all my shopping, up two flights of stairs to our two bed flat. thought about going somewhere nice outside as flat had no garden, finally figured out where we could go, spent at least half an hour getting there and then found I couldn't park anyway and most likely given up by which point the sun had vanished anyway.
its certainly not perfect here and there will be adjustments - it depends on your reasons, but for some of us - it was well worth it!
p.s all those family members who suddenly want to stay in touch... buttering you up for a visit me thinks. I was amazed at how many christmas cards I got from relatives this yr who have never send me a card in their life!

Hello,
Good luck with the move. Last year this time I was leaving UK to go to Turkey to say goodbye to my family and friends.
I think most of us have been there and done that.
Enjoy your last week, and hopefully see you in Chch :)
