Has any body previously been to the London olympia nz job show. If so would be intrested to here if it was worth while. As there is another there in early April.

OH went to both the October '06 and April '07 ones and has always said that the October one seemed to be better. More potential employers/recruitment agencies etc. In fact it was his attendance at the October one that really got us thinking about emigrating.

If you're already in London its probably worth going along to the one in April but if you have to travel a long way I'm not sure it would be worth your while.

However, things may have changed since we've been away so I'm happy to stand corrected if anyone else has any other take on it.

Good luck

Hi,

I went to the October one in London - initially just to guage interest, test the waters, etc. Well, I'm moving out there in less than 5 weeks time hopefully, such was the interest! I was fortunate - four of the companies recruiting there were in my area (which is why I went along) and I had active follow ups with three of them. I had enough on the go without pursuing anything with the recruitment agencies who were also keen for follow ups. So for me, very worth while! But it might depend on who's there recruiting.

Hi

we went to the same one but in manchester in october and have just moved out in january. We found it helpful to speak to people but were in a rush to move. There were lots of agency companies with jobs but they did take about 6 weeks to get back to us after the expo and this was companies that were saying they could find a job NOW. I think the kiwi ideal of quickly is different to ours.

The advice was useful though and my hubby found a job the week after by sending his CV out to people with advertised jobs and doing it directly.

If you are not in a huge rush and can wait to hear back after the expo then im sure you would get a job from it, if your skills are in need.

We went to the same show as Jess, where we met our boss-to-be. We got lucky that the guy we'd eventually be working for happened to be at the show that year. It saved having to go over for interviews etc.

I presume it would be a good idear to take some copies of my CV to hand out to any possible employers when i go to the show.

We are going to the Expo in London too. My OH is putting his CV on disc to hand out.
I am really looking forward to it, it's our first time out together without the kids in 3 and a half years and I can't wait! 12 whole hours together!!
(we don't get out much!!)

I know I am a sad case!! We are scheming how to make the most of our day out, it's been a long time since we got a baby sitter to agree to have our three horrors!
