On the EOI form there is a column of other family, and by adding one can add so many people, like uncle, nephew, sister, step brother etc etc.
What is benefit of adding these people since name and date of birth of every person has to be filled in, which itself is a hassle.
Also if they are added, do NZIS later on ask for proof of relationship or their birth certificates, when lodging ITA forms.

Hi,
I think these are just for members of your family who you think may at some point in the future want to move to new zealand and use you as a sponsor, so I would limit it to immediate family, unless you've already had some requests in :)
You don't have to provide any more information on your family as part of your visa processing - just if they apply separately later on.

Ditto what dusk said. I put my mum, in-laws, sisters & brother-in-law on my form. My older son was already included in the 'children' section but was not marked as being included in the application. We have not been asked for any further proof of relationship etc... for them.

I am trying to add as many as possible just in case someone decides to come to NZ later on. By the way what is exact definition of cousin, as this is added in relation column. And if at a later stage that cousin applies for NZ, how will this relation be determined and what sort of proof NZIS will ask.

If you just say 'cousin' in ordinary speech, it's normally taken to mean a first cousin, i.e. the child of a sibling of one of your parents. But surely nobody is allowed to sponsor them for entry, are they? Isn't it only closer relations than that?

If cousins are not allowed to be sponsored what is point of that list of so many relatives and why NZIS ask for those family members.

Here's the start of the links that made me say what I did above. http://www.immigration.govt.nz/migrant/stream/live/
I'm a relative newcomer to all this paperwork, so I haven't got an answer for you as to why they ask about family members. Is there somebody who's been studying it for longer who can give an opinion, please?

the relevant sentence from the NZIS website on the matter seems to be this one
"If you are a New Zealand citizen or permanent resident you may be able to sponsor your partner, dependent child, parent, adult child, brother or sister."
so limited to just close family by the look of it, or are you saying that cousing is an option present on the EOI form?
