How easy is it to get the pill in NZ? I am currently on it and don't really want to change but thought I'd double check what the process was to obtaining it .... rather than finding out when I get there
Thanks berni

Hi Bernadette,
The pill is slightly different here,i was on a 21 day pill in the UK but here its the 28 day pill that you take every day.
When mine ran out i took the package to show the doctor, he did an internet search and gave me the NZ equivalent.
It cost 4 dollars for 6 months supply.

Wow Tracy only $4! My six month supply was over $30 !!
I don't think there is the variety of the brands that there are in the UK (e.g. I had been on Cilest in the past and they don't have it here) but your GP in NZ should be able to find something that matches up in terms of the balance of hormones. Thats what I'm doing and if I have any probs he has said to come back and we'll try a different brand until we find one that works for me. I've also switched from the 21 to 28 (21 pills +7 sugar pills) pill sort.

I was on Microgynon at home - if I was to go on that here it is a non subsidised brand which would have cost me more. My Doc put me on Monofeme - $3 for 6 month supply.

Whoah! Mine is about $20 for four months (we only get four months in a packet), and that's a cheaper brand.
I know of brands that can cost up to $30 or more for four months..
I won't be in need of it soon, but I thought we had it cheap!:)

Hi Bernadette
Before coming here I got my 12 months pill supply from the family planning free of charge (in UK). Can't you do that?

I spoke to my GP and he said I couldn't get any more than 6 months so I will try the local family planning clinics.
Thanks everyone for your replies berni
