I am waiting for the NZQA to reply but would like to jump start our EOI application so a quick question.

Does anybody have an idea of what level I can expect for a "National Diploma Computer Data Processing" and a "National Higher Diploma in Management Practice" from a SA Technicon/University of Technology?. The ND is a three year (full-time) IT qualification with programming (COBOL in my case) as main subject. The other is 'n broad spectrum management qualification which is a one year full-time "post ND" qualification - part-time it took me a year longer for each of them. I would think that it should be about the same a B degree with honors or at least close to it.

Any information appreciated

Regards

OH has a ND in Computer Data Processing from Technikon Witwatersrand, for which she received a level 6 assessment from NZQA. We had assumed level 5 prior to applying. Never enough for bonus points though, this requires level 7 (degree level).
Can't comment on the combination with the higher qualification but as it is not directly related (management rather than IT) only NZQA will know if it will count as a higher level.

And this has reminded me to look into my brother in law's experience regarding moving his four dogs. Apologies for not having any info on that for you yet.
For other posters, this thread is not about dogs.

Thanks for the reply.

I would hope that NZQA will look at the practical application of both skills (programming and management) in terms of my experience. This is where the grey areas comes into play - e.g. ICT project management - aspects of both the qualifications are used. I guess it's up to them to decide on that one.

Will I still be eligible to claim points for a "recognized basic qualification" even if I don't have a level 7?. Also what about my work experience? Can I still claim for my work experience in the absolute skills shortage without the level 7?. It still is experience gained in a field on the long terms skills shortage list, in my opinion.

Also a bit confusing the ANZSCO list and the levels in there.

I am hoping to get an ITA without a job offer and then start looking for a job. It's very frustrating looking at advertisements on the web just to be informed that you have to be eligible to work in NZ if you want to apply. I need to be able to at least claim for my experience if I want to achieve the required number of points.

O yes - the dog. Well he has been "micro chipped" and the rabies test has also been done. We have just under six months of waiting before he can go.

We are in a tentative period of calculated steps and motions working towards the climax. Anything that can cause a delay is being assessed and reacted upon. I am talking about passports, un-abridged birth certificates, tax clearances etc.

Please let me know if you have info on the pets - our dog is a very important part of our family.
