Hi,
Does anyone have any info on primary schools in Hawkes Bay area. I'm not sure where we will be living, but I will be working at EIT in Taradale. Any advice or info would be greatly appreciated.

Have just Pm'd you with a forum member to contact, should be able help.

We live in Hastings and there are loads of schools around, but if living in Taradale, you would be 'out of zone'. We lived over Taradale way for a few months and from memory, there seemed to be a choice there too.

How old is/are your child/ren ?

I have just done a search - try www.tki.co.nz, that came up with half a dozen or so schools. Schools such as Arthur Miller, Bledisloe, Taradale, Greenmeadows came on search. I know that Greenmeadows has a good reputation, we were first goign to enrol our son there. Most schools insist on a unifrom and you have to pay school fees and provide stationery.

To give you an idea, our son is at Frimley in Hastings, he is 5.5
A school uniform of 2 fleeces, 3 polo shirts, 2 pr trousers and 2 pr shorts cost about $300. Stationery cost $42 for the year and fees were $60.

I dont know if you need after school care ? We pay roughly $90 a fortnight and thats for 2hrs a day with transport there and a snack.

Ours is 5 and he has settled very well over here.

My daughter is in Taradale with children at Taradale Primary,the Intermediate and the High School. Most (all?) schools seem to be zoned The three primaries I know of all have good reputations. You may well have to have an address first as the schools need proof you are in their area. They will also accept a letter from an estate agent once you have signed and are waiting to move.
All three children are very happy at school and doing well.
Taradale is a great place to live and there are some nice properties near the EIT

sorry to just but in but I'm hoping to get a job at the hospital in Hastings & our son is 14 so any info on senior schools or anything else in the area also would be appreciated

Think best bet is to look at the link i gave earlier, there are a few options, have heard of Hastings Boys school a lot, but dont know anyone who goes there. You can email the schools and prob look on their website.
