I am a registered nurse here in the US with 8 years experience with community health, specifically maternal child health. I am also an international board certified lactation consultant (IBCLC) and have worked as a postpartum/women's health nurse. Getting into the Plunkett job market seems the most natural fit and from looking at their website it seems they are willing to hire RNs without the 1 year certificate normally required. I also heard from a recruitment agency that Plunkett does not hire foreign nurses. So anybody out there have some solid information regarding this? Also, are Plunketts in as much demand as other, more hospital oriented, nurses? Any and all info is most welcome. Thanks in advance to you all.

Hi,
I have had a little amount of contact with Plunket in a professional capacity as oppose to personal. My impression is that they provide an excellent service, but their funding is extremely tight and continues to be cut, thus making the job that much more difficult, and perhaps job security would be an issue?? However, the Plunket nurse I spoke to thoroughly enjoyed her job and found it rewarding...but challenging due to funding.

Thanks Holland. The funding concerns sounds hauntingly familiar. It's good to hear that in this case at least, the job sounds worth the headache.
Cheers
