HI,
Our medicals are ready, only had them on Friday. Only problem is I have had an abnormal chest xray. Apparently there is calcification which may mean tests for TB unless old xrays I have had are the same which would mean it is an old infection. Loks like I'll need a specialist referal. I will phone my GP tomorrow. I wasn't expecting a problem like this! OH's liver test was slightly high - 58, but doctor said this wasn't anything to worry about. He had also been taken Ibuprofen for knee injury which didn't help.
Any one had problems with x rays?
It just seems like you feel like your making progress only to take more knocks. Oh well. must remain positive.

I had a similar problem with an abnormal x-ray, but it turned out to be an old infection.
Try not to worry too much. I know, easier said than done.
Thinking of you.

The whole process is one step forward, two steps back and then suddenly WHOOSH, it has an incredible momentum and you find yourself sat on the beach sucking pineapple lumps wondering where the last two years of your life went ....

I had a similar problem and I'm sure you'll be fine. You may have to hop through a few hoops but at least you'll know your lungs are fine!
I hope you get it all sorted - Good luck! :)

Hi Teri
Yes, I had the exact same problem with my chest x-ray. It was so worrying at the time, but our panel doctor reassured me that these were things were not uncommon and it probably meant I had had an extreme chest infection when I was young - neither I nor my parents had any knowledge of me being infected with TB or ever coming in contact with someone who had TB. Needless to say it was referred to the NZ doctor by our case manager. I recall there was a letter with the x-ray from the radiologist who did the x-ray stating what it was - a calcification (i.e. old) and no disease was present, so I think the case manager as a matter of course will always refer abnormal x-rays to the doctor. All this drama delayed our application for about 3 weeks or so, but we came through and I'm enjoying my life now here in Hamilton. I know it's easy to say don't worry but I hope my post gives you a bit of reassurance and I wish your all the best and will keep my fingers crossed for you.

Thanks everyone for your support.
After the call from the Doctor I spent Thursday evening thinking I was seriously ill. I told my husband how he must go on without me and think of the children.
However, I went to see my GP in the morning and asked her how long I had left.
She had a look at the xrays and really reassured me. It looks like contact with an old infection. She said it was so slight she's suprised it was reported abnormal. "jobsworth" was the term used. I will prepare for a specialist opinion incase it is asked for but she said she'd be suprised if it was queried.
I immediately telephoned hubby and ordered him to continue getting the house ready for sale that I was back to normal.
Hopefully now everything is back on track. I will send it off and wait to see what happens.
What a lot of worry these things cause.
Spaek with you soon
