Is it just me or are you not told about Customs?
I searched all through the MAF website before I came but don't remember reading anything in my paperwork about customs who are completley different.
I'm really angry as I bought in an ornamental pipe with me & listed it on the paperwork this end & so Customs wanted to look at it. This has involved emptying the whole container to be put through an x-ray machine to find the box (I knew it was one of three) & after all it wasn't a problem, well not for them.
Although Customs don't charge at the mo I've been left with a hefty £450 bill from the MC for the supply of men to do the donkey work.
If it's not mentioned anywhere then I think I have a case to take up with JM as they should never have packed it or pre-warned me surely
Be happy to hear anyones thought/comments on this

We were warned that they check 1 in 10 and they took 2 weeks to do ours as the inspector went off sick without releasing our goods. they found one dried orange xmas decoration and asked if we wanted it decontaminated or disposed of. It was not meant to be packed in the first place it was a box of junk, but boy are their dogs good at finding something so obscure.

The reason they opened our container was 12 boxes of Chardonnay all the same brand so we had to prove tax had been paid on it. No charges over our original quote except man handling can't remember how much though.

Its expensive without extras when you move. Good luck with the unpacking. We had 4 smashed boxes and 2 I have never found.
