Hi All.
Has anybody had any success having any forces qualifications assessed by NZQA? I was a tele tech radio class 2 in the British Army and I would think that it would be OK. I emailed NZQA but they were vague and said they might be able to assess it.

Must be a little while ago you got that. HM Forces now makes extensive use of NVQs so they're understood in the civvie world (in addition to the old qualifications I hasten to add). I take it you were Sigs? Have you thought about contacting Blandford to see if they can give you a civvie equivalent qualification?

Indeed, I was a telemech, I got a shed load of C&Gs and that was over ten years ago.

I didn't think it was that long ago but now just realised it was 10 years ago. Wow, time flies by.
Yep I was R Sigs and I went through Blandford. Just as I was going through and then at my posting in 2 Sigs they started bringing in the NVQs but I never got any. Good idea on contacting Blandford though.

Just wanted to update on this. I applied to NZQA for a pre assessment and they assessed it as a Level 4. Because it matches up with a skills shortage area we get an extra 20 points and now have 130 with no job offer. Here's hoping we get selected soon!

Many congratulations! I realised only now that I did a major faux pas, saying 'Sig' rather than "R Sigs"!! That's a matelot for you!
