This may have been covered before, especially in relation to particular documents, but does anyone here have any experience or tips re. the wisdom of including unrequested documents with your application?

E.g., has anyone included evidence of skills beyond employment letters/pay slips (such as, say, photocopies of published work if you're a journalist or designer)? Or, if it's not on the passports you submit with ITA, a photocopy of previous NZ visa rubber-stamps to prove you've been there before?

I'm sure it's v.bad move to inundate them with extra stuff, but what about one or two choice pieces? Bad idea? Good?

Cheers,
Matt.

MB,
Great question, I was wondering the same thing.

It seems one of the best ways to prove employment (beyond employment letter) is to provide a published article that has your name, picture, and bio stating your employer.

I was planning on doing that for my current employer at least... (Hadn't decided if I would provide only one journal article or also include my latest report - which is close to 300 pages! :eek )

Would love to hear others thoughts on this.

Thanks, RoadRunner.
Yes. Surely one of the arguments against including a bunch of extra stuf is that it might make it look as though you don't think your application can stand up on its own.
But we kinda sorta wouldn't mind putting into an officer's mind the fact that, in our case, spouse has visited NZ before. Or, to name another example, our principal applicant could include a script of one of her previously-given seminars to illustrate that one of her claimed skills -- professional ballet-shoe fitter -- is indeed a substantial and complex ability that very few folks could attain without years of training/experience. (That is to say, her main skill, ballet teacher, is self-evidently specialized and doesn't need evidence beyond employer proof).

Cheers,
Matt.

No problem on sending additional docs with your application as long as you feel that they are essential. I actually asked our visa case office of the same matter and she said its alright to send them in as long as you state ( in the frontal letter ) the reason that you feel these docs have significant effect on your application. For mine, I put in evidence of previous stays in NZ, evidence of relatives and friends in NZ and project reports from work indicating some of my accomplishments.

I put some significant documents all along with ITA, and also said it on the cover letter; explaining why it is significant for the NZIS to know.
good luck guys...

How about instead of sending the unrequested documentation that you feel could be relevant you send in an additional sheet with a list of these things, no. of pages etc. with the covering letter saying that if they require it you could send them in. That way you can make sure they are aware of them without the bulk.
