Hi everyone
I'm from the USA and am hoping to live and work in NZ soon...unfortunately may miss your wonderful summer but I'm still excited about the prospect of heading that way....yayyyy :)
I'm so glad I found this site :) I've been reading most of the posts regarding NZQA and completing the EOI. At the moment I'm awaiting word from NZQA and silly me submitted the EOI before allowing NZQA to assess my quals....so had to withdraw EOI until I get my report back from NZQA but am very hopeful....woot :clap :raebanana

Hello. I'm new to this site too. I'm finding it really useful. We hope to be moving to Auckland in June. Where do you plan to move to?

Thanks everyone for the warm welcome :)
I'm enjoying this site and love the prospect of meeting some folks once I arrive in NZ :)
I guess the only hard time of year is probably the holidays??? I'm close to my family and have always spent either Thanksgiving or Christmas with them and probably won't be doing that for awhile...just wondering how others adjust to that - I don't think I could handle being alone on xmas

Hello Daygloweyes,
It takes some time to adjust for the holidays, especially Xmas and thanks giving will be hot.
Do not worry about missing summer as we arrived here autmn when I could still sunbathe and wear most of my summer clothes even in winter. I lived in England about 4 years and came from Turkey (where people could freeze to death in winter) so trust me it is not so cold :)

Welcome to the site! I'm an American in a similar situation as you. I'm making the move in a few months; I'll be missing out on the American summer and will be getting my second helping of winter when I move.
It is going to be very tough w/o my family at Thanksgiving & Christmas, but these sacrifices are worth it to live in such a beautiful country. I'm giving up my friends, girlfriend, family, dog (though I plan on sending for him after a while).
I hope everything goes smoothly for you! Are you taking anyone with you?

Hi dude :)
It's good to know there are so many others in the same situation as me which is why I love this site - I'm learning so much just reading everyone's posts and know I'm not alone here.
Yeah I'm a little bummed that I'll be missing summer but I'm excited about my new adventure. I'm going alone but hoping to meet some of the folks on this board as well as hoping to make friends who don't think all Americans are bad or whatever. You're leaving your gf??? She should go with you...well I would if my guy was moving to another country...sorry but that's my opinion :D
I know it's a long way off but I'm more than keen to have Thanksgiving at my place haha...everyone no matter where you're from are welcome :cheers

I think I'm making the right decision; I guess we'll see. I'm 28 and she's 20 (21 in July) and have been dating a year. Moving in with a person is a rather big step... moving in with someone in another country is a GIGANTIC step! She wants to go really bad and she's a great girl, but she is so young and needs to finish up college. It's going to be a massive undertaking just getting me moved and settled in, I really couldn't handle worrying about someone else while this is going on. I told her to let me get settled in and then we'll see where stand. Who knows, I could realize what I'm missing out on and end up asking her to come over later.

True Dude and since you put it that way you never know :)
I'm doing what's good for me and what I want to do...even tho my family and friends have questioned my motive and don't want me to go :)
Good luck :nice1
