Hi all,

I would very much appreciate a second opinion (in fact the more the merrier!) on which category/occupation I should be applying under for EOI/PM.

I have been offered a job as an Industrial Door Technician in Wellington. I have 4 years of work experience in a very similar, if not identical, role in the UK.

As "Industrial Door Technician" is not listed as an occupation in Appendix 11 of the Operations Manual or ANZSCO I have been trying to find the nearest and IMO it would be Fitter (General) 323211.

I tried to attach the job description, but it was too big, so here it is cut and pasted for reference:

Position Contribution

• To carry out supervisory responsibilities
• To co-ordinate work activities.
• To assemble, install, service, or repair Roller Shutter and high-speed industrial doors.
• To ensure company objectives are achieved on time by providing a professional service to internal and external customers.


Key Accountabilities Expected Outcome

LEADERSHIP
Participate in long term planning and establish priorities with Managing Director.

Provide day to day supervision of assigned employees.

Schedule employees and equipment to complete the work according to work flow and specifications

Routinely perform all the work activities of assigned employees in addition to supervisory duties.

Keep Managing Director informed and seek direction on matters requiring deviation from established guidelines.

As necessary, co-ordinate work activities with other Site Project Managers.

Establish, work assignments and supervise the accomplishment of assigned activities in accordance with plans, schedules, budgets, and policies established with the Managing Director.

Recommend appropriate training and
Coaching as necessary.


Key Accountabilities Expected Outcome

ASSEMBLY:

Assemble doors, tracks, springs, openers, and related equipment at branch premises


Determine correct equipment and parts to be loaded for transport to job sites

• Ensure all appropriate power tools and hand tools/ welding equipment are used in a safe and efficient manner.
• Transport to site/residential area within required timeframe
• Load and unload door parts and sub-assemblies in a safe and efficient manner


INSTALLATION:

Install Roller Doors and related equipment, according to customer and Industrial Door standards/specifications.

• Ensure power tools, hand tools, ladders and lift mechanisms are used in a safe and efficient manner.

REPAIRS AND MAINTENANCE
• Remove or disassemble defective mechanisms or broken parts.

• Maintain company vehicle, equipment, tools, and inventory in a clean, safe, and efficient manner. • Purchase replacement parts as and when required.


WORK ORDERS/SCHEDULING

Organise/schedule day so as to effectively and efficiently accomplish all installations as required

Complete appropriate Worksheets relating to each service, repair and installation


• Timely collection of data presented to Manager on a daily basis.

Skills/Knowledge and Ability

• Leadership experience
• Mechanical aptitude or construction experience
• Basic Electrical knowledge and experience
• Minimum of three years Door installation experience
• Tool proficiency
• Welding experience.
• Excellent customer service skills.
• Valid Full Driving license (clean).
• Current Forklift License
