Live the dream

Hi Everyone!

What an amazing source of inspiration and advice you lot are!!!!

…and we just wanted to say THANK YOU because without you guys I really don’t know how we would have filled in our EOI.

2 hours they say to complete the online EOI…they’re having a laugh or I’m the slowest, dimmest person that’s ever applied!

Weeks later and only with your help, by reading the answers you’ve given to others over the past months, we eventually managed to answer all the questions and submitted our EOI on 12th February 2008 with 125 points and no job offer.

To our surprise we got selected on the 14th February!

Now I know it’s only the first, very small step towards our dream but needless to say it’s in the right direction and we really couldn’t have done it without you all, so thank you.

The ‘Waiting Game’ starts now then …and from what I’ve read it gets worse before it gets better?

Looking forward to sharing the ups and downs, and hopefully helping others along the way!

Huge congratulations to you. We were where you are roughly 12 months ago. We are now awaiting Visas. Just keep ticking those boxes 1 by 1. And by the way, it took me weeks to complete EOI. ;)

Hi there :)
Ditto on the statement that it absolutely does take more than two hours to complete the EOI - I kept going back to it and I think it took me nearly a week...then had to withdraw because I had to wait for NZQA.

It was so good to see that you got selected with only 125 pts with no job offer...as that's the exact same situation I'm in...at least there's hope - fingers crossed :)

Well done !!! I remember being up till midnight trying to get the EOI done...and the great sense of relief when it was selected.
Hold on tight for the ride....the waiting in between each step is awful so make sure you celebrate each step you achieve.:cheers (we'll all get there in the end!!)

We're in Yeovil, just down the road from both!

My OH and the children have lived here all their lives...Somerset born and bred!

Always living so close to our family on both sides, has made the thought of us moving to NZ very difficult indeed for some of them, in fact some family members are just blanking the whole idea!

Other than the obvious fact that we'll all miss family and friends incredibly, thats the one thing we all know we're going to have to deal with...
Does anyone else have family that really aren't happy about the possibilty of them moving to NZ?

My mother nearly cried when I told everyone about my plans...and my friends have had a lot of questions...but I have to do what's good for me :)

Wow! what do you know, - there are a few folk now that are from the Crewkerne/Yeovil areas. When I first visited Auckland about 8 years ago the week before Christmas I thought Yeovil was busier on a normal Saturday! Bet it has changed a bit by now!
To answer your question about family, OH's family will be in New Zealand, my parents plan to visit every NZ summer although I know my dad would prefer that I was not going, as for my 2 sons they are grown up and settled with jobs homes etc. but I hope they may follow after a visit - live in hope!
I'm still counting the weeks down, 4 left!
