Can anyone help with the RL driving time from Tutira, Bay View into Napier please?

Looking on the map it seems to be around 30 mins, but I'm thinking it's probably a slow road....................... and would take longer?

We tend to use www.maps.google.co.nz to get a rough idea of driving time.

Sorry can't help with personal experience of this journey as we're a couple of J.A.F.As :laugh

Do you mean Tutira as in Lake Tutira or Bay View, Napier on the road to Tutira. Bay View takes only perhaps 10-15 tops mins to get into Napier. Tutira is a slow road over the mountain, but I don't remember it being more than 45 mins at an ambling, enjoying the scenery sort of pace. Shakyle has been camping up there too adn may have a better memory than I! Very beautiful up there :)

Thanks Anneliese :nice1 I have done the google thing but I'm aware that sometimes journeys can take so much longer due to the errrmm terrain, which probably doesn't trouble you in jaffa land. :laugh

Lupin ta! looking at it on GE I mean Lake Tutira as that's nearby  I'm going up SH2 following the coast and then cutting inland, passing the lake on your right hand side. My neighbour mentioned a big gorge but couldn't remember the name of it, any idea's please?

The agent has probably bunged the Bay View bit on to convince me there's a sea view!!!! :laugh

Lots of pretty big gorges up that way- not sure which one your neighbour would be thinking of! We've done some beautiful walks round there- it's stunning and still close enough to Napier.

Are you thinking of moving this way Smiler?

We've certainly widened our search for the new Smiler Towers to include HB now (OH is also including Nelson but I'm avoiding that issue ;)) We originally wanted to live in HB before OH took the job in Welly. Now we work from home we can live anywhere yay!

TBH (and without starting a rant :() because of work it's just difficult house hunting and I'm having to search by internet. Time & distance doesn't allow us to look at every property and it seems all agents want to do is get you through the door, not answer your queries.

One agent just called, he's got a 'silent listing' no photo's, no write up, a vague idea of the price wanted, has been given the keys to the house and the instruction to sell. He expects me to travel 100's of km's on this basis..............sorry I promised not to rant lol!

We're very, very happy here in our rental but eventually want a place of our own, some elevated acres and no neighbours.

OMG - mass SI exodus in the offing ??!!!

I wouldn't give much credence to what she says though - I know - I've been there.

They only have excellent wineries, wonderful beaches, good weather, good housing costs, friendly communities and not much else really.

Not worth considering really........

Thanks Sharon :nice1 I know we went up there on our reccie trip (2.5 years ago) but I can't remember it, too traumatised by the fact we were running out of fuel in the rental car.

Daft q I know but did you get a cellphone signal up there?

Getting excited now.... OH wants to go see the house. It meets all his requirements, land, elevation, room for radio aerials yada yada.

Hmmmmmmmm maybe I should start a 'Find Smilers new house thread' :laugh Commission paid in wine. :nice1
