The beach there is gorgeous, but personally I find the centre a little dis-jointed i.e. there is not main focal point. Also, it is a bit of a treck into CBD if that is where you are likely to be working. Still, nice area with plenty of nice new better quality housing and reasonably flat so easy to walk around.

Hi walshy,

We went to Orewa early 2005, absolutely fantastic place. People very nice and the beach is quite long and very clean. There isn't a large amount of shops, but shopping precinct is nice and has Coffee bars, clothes shops, banks, a MAAAAD BUTCHERS and there is also a New world, Etc. Bit of a hike to Auckland about 35-40 mins houses lovely but can be expensive, if you want to have a look go on www.realenz.co.nz. Hope this helps

Hi walshy,
One of my work colleagues lives there and gets the bus into CBD, door to door 40 mins. We have visited and love it! Hubbie and son go up there on boy camping trips, one of their fave places. So go for it!
