Hi all,

Moving to Auckland in 3 weeks for a years working holiday visa. Plan to spend 6 months on both Islands and hopefully get some IT work along the way and travel around as much as possible!

would be great to speak to people doing something familiar, I'm looking forward to getting to know Auckland very soon! How's the weather? Its a cold, rainy Ireland at the moment...hope its better down there!

My hubs has done contract IT work here. There are quite a few agencies and while it was easy to get something when he arrived, it has been more difficult to get something after the xmas holidays. Just make sure you register with lots of them!

Cool, yes i'll deffo register with as many as possible to get the best chance of work. I was a recruitment consultant for a while (don't ask me why-horrible job!) and I know as a candidate you've got to be spread well between agencies to get many decent interviews...you're just a fee to them at the end of the day :(

I can recommend Agility for contract IT work. They're small and much more personable than some of the other agencies.

The weather in Auckland is rubbish at the moment - cold and cloudy. Not typical for this time of year at all.

Weather in Auckland today sunny and forecast to get to about 23 degrees, much better than Saturday when it was lashing rain and a howling gale!
