Hi.
When we moved into our rental, there were a few bits of furniture left by the previous tenant (the landlord doesn't want them). How do I go about getting rid of them?

In the UK you could ask the local council to collect & dispose, is there an equivalent process here please?
Selling them is not an option, as they are not in a good state of repair!

Any advice welcome, thanks,

Jane

You'd be surprised at what you can sell on TradeMe! But, if you can't be bothered with the hassle of that, contact your local council and find out when the next inorganic collection is.
You can usually tell, as people start piling all sorts of trash outside their homes. In some areas you get lots of scavengers going through it all - one man's junk is another's treasure!

I see you are on the Kapiti Coast...Have you thought of contacting the Salvation Army in Paraparaumu?...They will come and take the furniture away for you...Before moving to the USA I had them come and take away unwanted furniture I had...I lived in Waikanae at that time...The Salvation Army are always grateful for donations of furniture, clothes etc.

Hope this helps.

Suzanne.

Hi Jane

Apart from sticking them on your drive with a note saying 'Free help yourself'
have you thought about Trash Palace in Porirua, although you'll need to take them there as they'll only collect if you're in Porirua.
