Hi All,

I am an experienced Business/ Systems Analyst presently working in Canada and am planning to float my CV to potential employers in NZ alongside submitting my EOI.

I am faced with the daunting task of transforming my CV from one that is tailored to the North-American IT industry to one that applies more to the NZ counterpart.

I have read a lot of varied suggestions in different posts on this forum on CV length, contents, NZ employer preferences, etc and am thankful for the direction they have given me.

In this regard, I was wondering whether any of you wonderful people out there would be willing to take a look at my CV and suggest me whether it is up to scratch and if it aligns wells with the "Kiwi" style of IT job applications. Anyone with experience of job hunting in the NZ IT market would probably be the best fit to comment on this ... as the profile is very specific to a stream of IT skills.

Having said that, I do not know whether this is something that I should be requesting on this forum, given that it entails encroaching on someone's personal time/ leisure. However, before I spend money and get it reviewed by a professional consultant, I just thought of floating the request here ... anyone willing to volunteer would be a silver lining in my cloud of "kiwi-CV" :cheers

My wholehearted thanks to all, even if I do not find any willing takers. I am grateful for just being able to post this request for guidance/ help on this forum.

Thanks and Best Regards:)
Sudo

Hi Sudo. Can't offer a Kiwi perspective, but I've done plenty of IT hiring in the UK, and would be happy to give the CV a sanity-test if you like. It seems the PM system can't handle attachments, so I've PM'ed you my email address.

For what it's worth, I have sent over my American-style resume to IT recruiters in Wellington, and none has even blinked at it. I am due several interviews as soon as I arrive in two weeks (gasp!).

It's possible you need not change it.

I agree, you could just test the waters by applying for a couple of jobs on Seek, submitting your CV and then calling the agents and asking them directly what they think about it ... :yes

Most potential employers aren't going to quibble about international style differences of resume. And would you want to work for one that anal??

Having just spent a few days interviewing IT people, I'd say that long CVs are typical in NZ. IIRC the longest I reviewed was 29 pages...
