I goofed and asked a real estate question in the wrong thread:
http://www.emigratenz.org/forum/showthread.php?t=16469

Here it is in all its glory, and I've bolded my most important questions:

I will need an apartment when I get to Auckland, preferably in the CBD so I am close to public transport (I won't have a car) and close to places I can have a "day job" (actress!). I've emailed a few agents about specific places, but some never got back to me, and some say I cannot lease a place without viewing it first. Fair enough.

1) I am looking into temporary (few weeks?) accommodation for when I first arrive. Does anyone have any information about the Bond Street Lodge in Kingsland (or the related Galatos St Lodge in Newton - which has no website of its own)?

1B) What are these types of accommodation called, so I can do a more specific search if needed?

2) As for a long term apartment, can anyone recommend any other real estate companies or websites that list from multiple companies? I already have realestate.co.nz, Crockers, apartmentrental.co.nz, nzs.com (real estate listings), trademe, aucklandproperty.net, and sublet.com.

2B) If anyone knows of any studio or 1 bedroom places in the CBD (or close) for under 230/pw could you let me know? Never hurts to ask...

Thank you for (re)reading.

Don't worry you didn't goof - threads can often come under different sections, if they are really in the wrong place then a moderator will move it for you, but most times it doesn't matter. :)

I can't help you with those particular places but wondered if you had considered flat sharing as a cheaper option:

http://www.trademe.co.nz/Browse/Property/RegionListings.aspx?search=1&mcat=2975-&sidebar=1&76=2975&selected135=&selected136=&134=1&122=0&122=0&59=0&59=0

This site also has some good reviews of temporary accommodation:

www.tripadvisor.com/Hotels-g255106-c3-Auckland_North_Island-Hotels.html

And this is a good site to search for temporary accommodation:

www.wotif.com/?country=NZ

Also if you search the 'activities, vacations, motels in NZ' section you will come across some threads about temporary accommodation in Auckland.

Hope this helps

Cheers

Tia
