Just bought the boys short wetsuits for their swimming lessons (apparently the outdoor pool is heated but their blue lips beg to differ).
What am I suppose to do with the wetsuits afterwards? Just rinse them out in the bath, and leave them to dry? Or should I be putting them in the washing machine?
Cheers

Method 1:- Rinse the wetsuits in the bath and hang them up to dry;
Method 2:- Put the wetsuits over the clothes line and rinse them well with a hosepipe.
The second method is easier and less messy, and you could get the children involved.
No need to put them (the wetsuits!) in the washing machine.
Have fun!

Wetsuits inevitably start to smell after a while, so it's a good idea to soak them in a tub with a disinfectant solution every now and then. When I used one for diving, I'd throw it in the bath, pour in a load of Dettol and leave it to soak for a good while.

Speaking of wet suits anyone know a site where I can find the water temperatures around the south island? Or can anyone just recommend what thickness of a wet suit one needs in NZ?

Dude,
It's a big map, but interesting.

There are also some NZ surf websites that have some local temps as well.

We hose down our wetsuits on the washing line as well - in fact, my father-in-law has a special wetsuit line in his garden (it's in the shade so they can be left to dry out of sunlight as sunlight degrades the material).

Btw, from experience, I wouldn't recommend putting the suit directly on the line. Hang it up on the line using a big thick hanger instead - thicker the better (definitely not the wire hangers). Otherwise, you'll get those perma folds in your suit.
And yes, as Jo Jo said, try not to leave out in sun

If it does get stinky, put it in the bath in warm water with washing-up liquid or soap flakes in, spend 5 mins soaking it, squeezing the water out, repeat a few times, then rinse with freh water and drain out of direct sunlight. Only needs to be done once in a while though, fresh water should be fine most of the time, especially after they've been in the sea.
