We submitted EOI in Nov under Migrant Worker claiming 125 points and were selected from pool in Dec, we had 75 points removed because of mix-up over recognised qualifications. I got an alternative qualification preliminary assessed at NZQA as Level 4 which awarded us 50 points so our new total is 100. This total doesn't appear much use as it looks from the selection that without a job offer as well that amount won't get selected. We are off to Auckland mid April to try for a job while were there (i'm currently employed by Rolls-Royce as a machine operator) so fingers crossed. Any advise greatly appreciated

Are you able to work as a vehicle mechanic, by any chance? I know that a friend of my son's immediately had several job offers from firms in Auckland when he was over on a recce trip a couple of years ago - he qualified and has worked in garages in the UK.

Unfortunately not. I work for Rolls Royce - aero engines and not cars!!! Thanks for your reply.

Have you looked on the Air New Zealand webiste in their careers bit? They have a successful division known as Tech Ops whcih does aircraft engineerign for global airlines.
