We have recently just sent off our ITA. If our PR is accepted does anyone know when we have to go because I have a job offer (nurse). We are trying to sell our house at the moment, just reduced it again, and I don't think we will be ready to go until at least Sept, however, I have read today on the immigration website that once your permit is agreed you must start the job in 3 months??? Has anyone been in this situation themselves and can advise? Can I get the visa accepted and then wait 6 months for the blue stickers to go in our passports, then would I have to start 3 months after that? I did send our passports with the ITA app so should I contact the CO and ask for them back? Everything seemed to be swimming along nicely and now it's going pear-shaped. Joy of emigration !!!!

You have 12 months to activate the PR once they are in your passport. The 3 months refers to then getting PR changed to Returning Residence visa - you need to show proof of employment etc to get this done within 7 months of activating PR. So if you got your blue stickers tomorrow, September would be well within that timescale :)

Hope this is right and helps - someone will be sure to correct me if it's not :D

Best of luck
Karen

Many thanks Karen.

I am also waiting to hear from my CO at NZ Immigration so if any different I will update this post.

Thanks again and hope your move in Jan went well.

Hi, we are in a similar situation, we have the paperwork going through, but haven't sold the house and are worried about how long companies normally keep job offers open. We were hoping to be there in the next month or so, but if the house sells in the next few months, it will still take another few months to complete. We can't afford for my husband to go ahead as we need his income to support the mortgage and we're worried about losing the job offer.

Has anyone else been in a similar situation?

Thanks, B
