Actually I'm so worried. It is very expensive to lodge an application and I wanna know when and why an application is declined. I got my ITA a few days ago, my EOI was selected with a total of 110 pts without a job offer but I gained bonus because of a degree and experience in IT.

If I have genuine documents that support all points I gained in the EOI, will they ever decline my application?

Please advice

Thank you

Very difficult to answer that one, but IMHO it is unlikely if you have all the legitimate evidence to support the claims that you made in the EOI. UNLESS, there are medical grounds, or the police checks show something up.

In our case * Most * of the queries were dealt with before we got the ITA, and then the few queries that came up were very easily dealt with.

Good Luck

thanks for this post. i'm exactly in the very same position. 110 points and no job offer, nor relatives in nz. however, all my documents are valid and genuine.

but still, i decided to lodge my application. 'still have until the end of the month to gather everything.

wow! at least I'm not alone :) It is really terrible especially when you live in a 3rd world country where you cannot guarantee anything regarding time or response :( I'll send my qualification to NZQA for a full assessment but I'm truly worried, bad ideas in my mind like what if the university did not respond? or sent a late response? really I don't know.

If you can justify the claims in your EOI, and there are no problems with your police and health checks, then all things being equal you should be granted PR. You have already been selected -they're simply expecting you to prove what you claimed. They're not looking for reasons to 'fail' you at this point.

Totally agree.

Its a few years ago now, but we actually submitted our ITA in person at the London office and spoke to the immigration officer that dealt with us about exactly the same fears.

His response was that as long as you could prove your EOI claims and pass health and police checks etc it was pretty much a forgone conclusion.

Easy to say don't worry, but do try not to...

Thank you for much for your replies. I'm doing the paperwork (very hard to do in Egypt) then I'll submit my application.
Thanks again

Have some people been offered WTR rather than PR if they have a low points score?

mesh2008
4th March 2008, 09:39 PM
mmm, why some people don't like WTR? Isn't it leading to PR anyway?

CJ22

WTR would only be offered if a job was offered, afaik. That doesn't apply in this case.

The main problem with WTR is that it's virtually as much work as a PR application, and you still have to do the PR application at a later date if you want to stay, only this time at a spacial and temporal remove. it's a hassle, and some people like the security of knowing for sure that they're going to be allowed to stay.

mmm, so for an application without a job offer, it is either accepted or rejected no WTR?

If NZIS don't believe that they can offer you a PR e.g. because they have reservations that you may not be able to find a job or settle successfully in NZ then they can still offer you a WTR without a job offer.

You would then have a limited time to enter NZ and secure a job (normally 6 months).

i see, so given my circumstances, it's a big chance that they'll be giving, at most, a WTR.

just hoping it'll not be very hard looking for a job there.

Why yossarian? why don't you think that you'll be granted PR?

i'm not certain really, but i don't have a job offer, i don't claim points for relatives in nz (bigger chances of survival if you know somebody there i guess?), total work experience around 4 years only, and claiming just 110 points.

but who knows, they might still end up giving a PR! *wishful thinking*

youssarian, I have a total of 110 points just like you, no relatives in NZ too! What are your qualifications? Bachelor?

yup, i have BS in Computer Science, and fortunately from a university listed in nz immi site...(though they still asked me for nzqa assessment..)

Yes they requie an NZQA asessment unless you have a job offer.

Yossarian, a lot of this is down to who you get on the day and what sort of mood they're in, I suspect :)

yossarian & mesh2008 - we got granted PR and we only had 110 points, no job offers and no family/friends in NZ.

It can be done so don't give up hope!!! :)

Same for us to and we got PR. You should be fine, really. :)

Same here - though we have lots of friends and family in NZ, and I lived abroad as a child which seemed to be a plus point in the interview.

I was just under the impression that lately you had to score in the 140 region to get PR. Don't give up though! It'll take longer, but you may well get PR.

Does WTR carry the same rights as PR? ie schooling etc?

as fas as I know, with WTR you have to find a job in NZ within a timeframe (probably 6 months) to get the PR. For me, this is not a problem. For sure PR immediately is an awesome thing, but WTR as plan B is good as well.
