In the NZ Herald today it says that the police do not want the mobile phone companies ie vodafone and telecom to stop recording and archiving text messages. As the police say this provides information regarding crime which they say is vital to their enquiries.
Did you know the companies recorded them? What else do they record and listen in on, makes one ask questions, who's listening.... and more importantly why?

Without going into too much detail, they have key word filters, they don't record every text/voicecall/email.

The mind boggles at all the irrelevant stuff they must be having to wade through. My text messages to and from NZ usually consist of, 'Are you there?' and, 'Okay,' as the signal to get to the computer and turn the webcam on!

Do the UK govt./police do this as well, does anybody know? On Valentine's Day, M got a wong number picture text message of some unknown man's - ahem - personal area!
