Hello!

Could anyone tell me how using containers works? We don't have a whole house to ship over so we wanted to know how we could go about obtaining use of 1/4 to 1/2 a container. Does anyone have a rough idea of how much 1/4 container would cost and how much we could fit in? We're seriously thinking about buying a fridge/freezer, washing machine etc. to take over after reading how expensive these items are. Does the shipping company arrange for you to share a container with someone or are you meant to do this yourself?

Hi there. Sharing a container is called groupage. The shipping company organises this. Disadvantage is that you have to wait till they have enough individual crates to make up the container ready for departure. COntact a few shipping companies and they will explain everything and even come round and give you a quote. Make sure you have at least 3 quotes before making the decision. Do a search for shipping on this site and you will get the details of the main players.
