my o/h and i have been planning on emigrating to nz for sometime now and have hit a brick wall all of the sudden. When we first decided my o/h did the online points thingy and came up with 140 points yipeee without job offer, so we thought that we had time to get things in order first like house, sell my business etc and put in eoi when we were almost there. well we thought as we were almost there we would do the eoi. what a shock when we discovered as we filled out the very very long eoi that at the end we only had at most 100 points and as o/h isthe big 50 next month that we will lose 5 points there too.He has been applying for jobs that we think match his skills. He works with the unemployed who have many different problems from abuse,drugs/alcohol and learning difficulties etc and runs workshops for a service provider. He has gained an nvq level 4 in careers advice and guidance which was converted to a level 5 by nzqa.Is it worth submitting the eoi with just 100 points and chance it staying in the pool and then thrown out or just keep appling for jobs until he may oneday be offered a job???Also have been trying to find companies in nz that do similar work but keep drawing a blank
so if anyone out there knows of any companies :wah it would be much apprieciated. He has been applying to the corrections dept for a job as probation officer and was shotlisted for an interview, did the online tests and had a pych interview but didnt get the job so will keep on trying and trying. Thanks for reading my long winge. So sorry to hear that. It seems to work out like that sometime that your point change when you do the EOI.

Would it help if you were the principle applicant instead?
Have you tried recruitment agencies to get a job?

I can't comment on whether or not it's worth submitting anyway as I'm not totally sure but I would think it might be unlikely to go through. Keep reading though as I'm sure the info will follow soon.

Chin up:)

thanks for that,i have been a florist for over 20 years, ran my own floristry business for the last 7 years and i am alot younger than my o/h but have no quals in floristry, besides the fact that i can do the job stood on my head and it is on the skills list but without quals to prove it i am stuffed.so if i could be the principal applicant i would. kind regards lisa

Flowerlady, is it worth you taking a couple of years to get a suitable qualification, and then trying again with you as the principal applicant?

Or coming over to start a florist business here - or buying an existing one to run?

Good luck,
J
