Hi everybody, nothing new to say or ask for a while, but I spend quite sometime everyday reading all that I can from past and present threads, everybody here is great and I hope to meet some of you when my wife and I finally go there in november.

I don't know if I said it before, but my wife is a certified sommelier ( not the same as "master sommelier" only 124 in the world, 1 in latin america, none in OZ or NZ I think) and she currently works for an editorial, she produces a wine, food & spirits magazine, along with some things on the side ( wine services on events, spirits class on the sommelier school, wine tastings, etc.), She actuallu went to vinexpo in bordeaux last year and it's going to Brazil to a Biodynamic fair in may I think, she's studying New Zealand and Australian wines and terroirs to be prepared, she holds a WHV, we hope to land a job and change status to a proper work permit.

Does anybody know how is the "wine world" in NZ?, meaning magazines, events, winerys, I looked around and seems to be similar to Chile, as being part of the considered "new world wines", I read in this forum that kiwis are more laid back, go to bead early... we are used to have events and stuff from like, 9 pm to 3 am... actually just last night I had drinks with a friend 'til 1 am...a little sleepy today but nothing I can't handle...

well, that's it! cheers!!! all comments help!:exit

What follows obviously won't be true of everybody, everywhere in the country. And I don't know if it would involve the part of society interested in fine wines. But there are certainly some sections of the community in Auckland who are night-owls. When my d-i-l went to show my son around the night-time haunts she used to frequent as a 20-year-old, they found that a whole lot of them didn't even open these days till very late evening, in fact, round about the time they'd be inclined to be thinking of heading back.

Thanks for the answer, I guess it just depends on the city, like here actually things are very different in Santiago than in south of Chile.
