We have booked our flights at last. Leaving on 4th May (actually going on a Med cruise before we go) and flying via LA. We are going that way as we are stopping off in the US for 10 days to visit our daughter, and also to get the extra baggage allowance - but we seem to have got an absolute bargain.
We booked directly with Air New Zealand and the whole journey LHR to Auckland with stopover in LA has come in at £756 for both of us. A week or so ago I had checked the price and it had been over £600 each, so we don't know if they made a mistake or just have a special on!

Well done you. We did the same with Singapore air. We wanted one way to Auckland 1st may and I checked one day and they quoted £580 each. The next day I decided to book and we got it for £370 each. Strange how it works but it seems to differ each day.
I hope you enjoy your cruise and your stay in L.A

... that's a good price, if you're not tied with specific dates and are prepared to book at short notice there's some great bargains to be had!!!
Enjoy your trip :nice1

Well done Barbara, that was a bargain!
We came over last April, via LA, and for the 3 of us, 2 adults and 1 child, we paid about £1500.
Good on you!

are these one way fares and where'd you find anything so cheap. I know sometimes the fare is shown at that price and then you have to add the taxes which bump it right up.

Yes - they are one way fares. I booked direct through Air New Zealand's web site as we knew we wanted to fly with them, and the price includes all taxes etc. The actual flight cost is just over £200 each and the rest is tax.
Thanks all for your comments. I am sooooooooooo nervous about the house sale going through - we hope to complete on 11th April. But whatever happens we are committed to going as our PR expires at end of May!

They give 2 bags of 23kg per person - although I believe other airlines will give you more if you are emigrating I don't think comes to as much as 46kg!
