After graduating from college, my daughter is thinking about spending some time in NZ on a working holiday. She has been studying Japanese for about 6 years now. She was wondering whether there are jobs she could get where this could be useful.
I was thinking that she might be able to work at some tourism-oriented businesses. Is NZ a big vacation spot for Japanese?
Regards,
Keith

There has always been a lot of Japanese tourism to Queenstown and Te Anau, and bilingual staff are always sort by tour companies and specialist shops. Queenstown has a year round season because it also offers ski-ing, but Te Anau tends to only hire staff from October - April.

Anywhere in NZ that there is tourism, you will find Japanese tourists. NI or SI so she shouldn't have any problems wherever she goes.

Wrong country, but the Gold Coast, Australia, is a magnet for Japanese tourists.

There are a fair few Japanese tourists in NZ, yes, and some Japanese people live here too (Mrs Chiba and our kids, for example :)). Not sure how speaking Japanese would directly help with getting a job, because there are a fair few of native speakers here with good English, but it can't hurt!
