Hello

Does anyone know if there are any extras to pay for the medical. I'm thinking if you declare a previous medical condition that you are no longer being treated for do you then have to pay extra for a report from your GP or hospital consultant?

Cheers :nice1

i've had some reports from my GP but haven't paid for them.

I would think it depends what the condition is to be honest, sorry that doesn't help that much :)

I had to pay for extra blood tests as my BMI was high so they did the fasting tests to check for colesterol.

Because I'm type 2 diabetic I have to have extra blood test for blood sugar levels. Even though I'm having this done through my own GP I still have to pay the extra and have exactly the same test done for the medical. Crazy!

Hi!

We were asked to pay our GP £30 for a letter confirming that Ben had no further treatments/complications following a back surgery performed over ten years ago.

British doctors seem to be underpaid :p

We only paid for the initial medicals via the INZ listed doctor in NL.
The additional blood tests and letter confirming the all clear went through my own GP and I never paid a cent (guess health insurance covered that).

The NHS pays UK doctors for patient-care, that's ALL. As soon as we ask one of them for something outside that, we're into a private arrangement, and what he charges for his time is up to him.
