Well you may have seen my experiences with NZ Van Lines (‘I hate NZ Van Lines) having virtually been accused of deriving pleasure from ‘knocking NZ Companies’ which is completely unfounded, a slightly wiser member commented that ‘bad news travels fast, good news is rarely heard’. Which I think is quite true.

So my idea is…

If you personally have a good or bad experience with a NZ based company post a very brief summary here.

Don’t do into great detail, start a thread if you feel the need, (I did) feel free to link to other threads.

Please only post your own personal experiences regarding NZ based companies you have personally used, reframe from posting comments or sympathies.

If everyone posted their experiences both good and bad this thread could become a fantastic resource, as people could use the ‘search this thread’ function when considering contracting the services of an organization.

Best Wishes:nice1

I’ll go first…

NZ Van Lines

The most unprofessional, farcical company it has ever been my displeasure to utilize.
Thought nothing of extorting money to store container in an unsecured field and then tell blatant lies to cover up their incompetence.

AAA Services (HB) Ltd Pest Control Napier 06-834 4381
Brent Foster really nice guy when our tenants left our house flea ridden he sorted it out quickly, reliably and economically. Can’t recommend their services highly enough.:clap

Gillies Group Property Management Ltd
Used them to rent out our house in Napier, we found them unprofessional, incompetent, apathetic and lazy. They lost the keys to the house and attempted to deny that they ever had them and so didn’t bother marketing the house at all. They moved offices (from Napier to Hastings) without providing us a forwarding address thus, we basically had to micro managed every aspect of the letting from the UK ourselves.:no

Laurie Lawrence Appliances 2002 Ltd. Sale & Service of white goods Napier 06-843 7424
Fantastic service, very reasonable prices. Judy Lawrence (no relation) was exceptionally helpful, when our washing machine broke down. They supplied, delivered, installed, disposed of the old one and liaised with our tenant, all on the same day while we were still in the UK.:clap

CONROYS REMOVALS.

I think the area that the poster has had dealings with is pertinent to this thread as work ethics seem to be at question here with some divisions reported to be more efficient than others.

Packers came from their Tauranga office, although all complaints (and there have been many) are currently being dealt with (please read ignored) by their Auckland office. It's got to the point where I am now in communication with one of their directors, Gary Conroy, who seems to take pleasure from ignoring my mail, or maybe after 6 months of trying, he has still not concluded his/their investigations.

Basically insufficient packing materials were used and the container was badly stacked resulting in unnecessary damages to our property, or so our claim assessor believes.

The bad...

The Moving Company- Lack of communication when our belongings arrived in the country...they arrived in December before Christmas and I found out when I telephoned mid January. Lots of delays. Items damaged/missing. Paid for all items to be unpacked and assembled, they left all boxes for us to unpack.Offered $250.00 in compensation....sent back, still in negotiations.

The good...

The Moving Company They advised us that our container had arrived early and arranged delivery of it on a date to suit us (i.e. when we moved into our new rental). Their removal man Steve was great, hardworking and very much the man in charge. He put up our beds, the kids beds, unwrapped all items (e.g. chest of drawers, dining room chairs etc.) and made sure the sofa and chairs were set up. Even came back and picked up the empty boxes on the pre-arranged date.

Bond and Bond We bought all our white goods from them and then some, including washing machine, fridge/freezer, dryer, kettle, toaster and printer. There were other items but can't remember off the top of my head what they were. Both the kettle and toaster broke and both have been replaced without a moment's hesitation.

GM Panelbeaters 068587489 Waipukurau

I had problems with a very low bumper on my car. Link to the exact problem below. Totally rebuilt my bumper and didn't charge anywhere near as much as I expected. So helpful and good at what they do. Can't recommend them highly enough.

Stevenson and Taylor Ltd 068586041 Waipukurau (Sure they have one in Hastings as well)

They sold us our log burner and they were so helpful. Just couldn't do enough for us, even after making the sale. OH fitted it and was slightly short of chimney pipe. The owner took him back to his house, as he had a spare bit in his garage. Told him it was a waste of money buying a whole length! Priceless.

Spaceships campervan hire. They do exactly what they advertise. Good, comfortable vehicle. Loads of discount for a long rental, and being over 55. Owner on the phone to make sure we were happy. Great!

APEX Car Hire (Auckland Airport)

Great company......half the price of Hertz, Avis, Budget, etc.......just had to call them from the airport they sent a minibus for us to take us to their site which is about 2 miles away they loaded and unloaded our luggage into the bus and then into the car. It was ready and waiting just had to sign the paperwork . On return the guy just asked us to fill in the paperwork while the bus driver unloaded and loaded the luggage onto the bus ready for the drive back to the airport. Didnt even go to check it took our word for the mileage and that the tank was full of petrol. Would recommend.:nice1

Rangiora Dental Rooms - not the most pleasant experience but very professional dentist who took a lot of time explaining what was going on, providing me with options etc. $230 for check-up, x-rays and unfortunately extraction but have to say massive improvement on the dental services I experienced in the UK :(

Jucy car & camper rentals http://www.jucy.co.nz/
I have used them loads of times, helpful, friendly staff good with clear, cheap reliable cars, even their ‘El cheapo’ I was often upgraded to brand new car even when paying for 'El cheapo'.
Until recently the were Ezy rentals, but are now trading as Jucy rentals, they are very close to Auckland airport with a free shuttle bus to & from both terminals.
