I sent my quals to NZQA by DHL and it was picked up yesterday. I understand that I have nothing to do but wait :( I gained my BSc (IT) from an Egyptian university and currently I live and work in Egypt. This is why I'm so worried. Email or mail an Egyptian organization may lead to a long delay before getting a response back :( The best way is a phone call and since there is a big time difference between NZ and EG, there is no chance to phone the university or my employer during working hours :uhoh
My ITA deadline is 30 June, I paid for a fast-track option but browsing this forum made me feel scared :wah It seems that NZQA does not really care about deadlines. Do you think I still have a chance to get the full assessment before the ITA deadline?
Thanks a bunch

Hi.....I try and stick by the fact that worrying about something doesn't change the situation... know this is easier said than done. NZQA seem to take as long as they take...but if you have paid for fast track hopefully this will speed the process up. I am in NZ, and my quals went off in December and I still haven't got an answer.
try not to worry....it takes as long as it takes...as frustrating as this is!

AM, I know they say you mustn't get in contact with the Uni yourself but I found out who would be dealing with it and contacted them just to let them know to expect it. It also personalized me to the one dealing with the request. Not sure if it helped but nothing to lose.

Hello AM
My qualification assesment took more than 40 days thanks to the university.
They were so slow. At the end I called them and said that there should be a paperwork for me from NZQA, and I would like to make sure it gets done quickly. Student affairs personel explained what was taking so long and tried to solve it. So with that i knew at least I have done what I can.
NZQA contacts the main student affairs of the uni not the indivudual faculties that what happened with us (Istanbul University-Turkey), and because it was requested by mail, they had to post it back and also because the initial letter was in English they had to make sure the letter was written back in English. so procedure is long.
But don't worry as you have enough time and hopefully that will all be done easily

Thank you for all your replies. What makes me so worried is the long time a mail sent from NZ takes to reach EG and vise versa; nearly three weeks if DHL is not used and since DHL is very expensive, I'm sure my uni won't go this route and will use the usual mail. That means more than a month and half to exchange the mail! More worse if the uni did not proceed with the verification quickly :(
I tried to contact my uni to ask about how such requests are processed but as expected, no answer! The uni staff just gave me the up-to-date postal address, fax and telephone and I was told that any request should be addressed to one of these contacts, no more information about how long would it take them to answer :(
I hope they'll respond quickly :( It is very frustrating to live in a 3rd world country where many don't really care about time :uhoh
