Hi Sweetpea. Ours took 3 weeks from sending them off - it would have been less, but I managed to miss out some paperwork (little'uns birth certificate, OH's driving licence) and had to fax them across. And that was in the run up to Christmas, when they were very busy.... good luck!

Hi Sweetpea

We had ours back within 2 weeks.

Stroke of luck really as had boxes waiting to be taken to shippers on the saturday morning (they arrived by post saturday morning about 11ish and the shippers closed 12 noon, about 1/2 hr drive and was the last one we could have got on so that we didnt have too long a wait in NZ) and had our flights booked for 3 weeks down track.........was quite scary time!

I have heard it may take as soon as 2 weeks but not over 2 months.

Mine took 8 weeks due to Immigration doing a labour market check.

My WTR took 2 days!

After my first visit where employer accreditation was missing I got it then went back in person to NZIS London to hand the completed set of documentation in. Phone call the following day to say my job offer didn't say "permanant". Email confirmation that night, and a phone call the following day to say it was ready to collect!

When I handed it in I was told a 5 day turnaround was to be expected as I would be prioritised with a job offer (don't all WTRs have jobs...?). Based on all the processing time info, I was led to believe 2-4 weeks so 5 days was great news, 2 days was a shock!

I guess the moral of the story is - "processing time can be neither predicted nor guaranteed"...

Hi sweet pee,

Our applications were delivered last Monday 10th March and we had our passports back, complete with visa stamps, last Friday 14th!!! I couldn't believe it!

I was so nervous going to the Post Office as I knew it could only be the passports - what an amazing feeling seeing the blue stamps and reality kicking in that it is actually happening.

Anyway, just thought I would let you know that it can happen pretty quickly - we hope to be in NZ first week in May and can't wait!

Picking up on Kate's post... can you only apply for a WTR visa if you have a job offer in NZ?

Thanks

We also got our WTR in a very short space of time, 5 or 6 days I think it was. For some reason, a WTR visa is processed more quickly outside of NZ, than in NZ. A person I know here in Auckland submitted her documentation in NZ as per her prospective employer's request and it took about 15 working days.... as opposed to 5 or 6 working days in South Africa. Weird.

Red Devil - the only WTR visa I am familiar with is the talent visa, which basically means you have been offered a job by an employer that is accredited with immigration services. I do think that the WTR visa is dependent on a job offer.

You can actually apply for a WTR under the arts, culture or sports category where I guess you don't actually need a job for.

Also, if you apply for a PR without a job, but are given a WTR instead then you won't have a job, but will of course be expected to get one ASAP.
