Hi All,

I have secured a district nursing job, with my base being Merivale ( I think). As we aren't yet in New Zealand it's hard to get a feel for areas and how far they are from each other.

I have read threads on different areas in Christchurch but find it difficult to imagine how far places are from each other.

So my question is - which areas would be a reasonable distance from Merivale, perhaps about a 30 minute journey, whilst also being good places to raise 3 youngsters - girl 13, girl 11 and boy 9?

Thanks,

Nicki

:raebanana on the job

If you're up for a 30 min drive then you're probably looking at anywhere in Christchurch or if out of town Rolleston, Templeton, West Melton, Kaiapoi, maybe Rangiora or the new development going in at Pegasus bay.

Expect those living in in above mentioned spots will be along soon :D

Where are you nursing now?

Hi,

My job is district nursing. Presently I work in Birmingham, England. Am really getting excited now. We hope to be there in August.
Thanks for the info. And for the nanas! Ever so hard to decide where we might like to put our roots down - and may change many times once we arrive I know.
There just seems so much to think about. Schools, nice comminity, happy area etc etc. Don't need to tell you all that tho as you all been thro it already - and survived which is encouraging!!
Thanks again all info gratefully received.

We're not in Christchurch yet (moving on June 1) but we have done a lot of scouting. Merivale is about as flash as it gets in Christchurch. If you can afford to live near your job, then very good on you! As the poster above mentions, 30 minutes will get you anywhere in Christchurch and even beyond...
