From 28 March 2008, New Zealand Post will be introducing a new, more logical pricing in proportion system for all standard domestic mail. This means letters (http://www.nzpost.co.nz/Cultures/en-NZ/AboutUs/PricingInProportion/Letters/) and parcels (http://www.nzpost.co.nz/Cultures/en-NZ/AboutUs/PricingInProportion/Parcels/) sent within New Zealand will be priced in direct proportion to their size and weight.
Apart from domestic letters this will affect anyone who sells on Trade Me. http://www.nzpost.co.nz/Cultures/en-NZ/AboutUs/PricingInProportion/

Yes, an absolute nightmare. It's NOT more logical for the customer. I've only JUST managed to get hold of pamphlets which actually set out the criteria fully - they're supposed to be in all post offices, but they were always 'out'. Till now, I've been trying to make do with the automatic calculator on the internet. You put in how heavy your parcel is, then the dimensions, and it tells you a price, but there's nothing on there that lets you see it might be better value to leave off a layer of wrapping so it's 1/2 an inch shorter, for example, or 5 g lighter. A tiny difference like that can halve the price.

Can I just hi jack this & ask, Is it only Post Offices that sell stamps? Can you not buy them in books anywhere?
Thank you :)
