I just want to ask what is most likely a silly question:

We submitted our EOI on 16th Mar.
I know the draw is not for a couple of weeks.

I've noticed that some people say they were selected (maybe a week or so after they submitted) and then they say decision successful about 12 days later. What's the difference? I would have thought that once you were selected that was it, but if anyone can clarify that would great.

Selected means simply that you have registered with enough points to have been selected from the pool.

Decision successful means that NZIS have checked the points that you have registered and have determined that you do have enough points to have been correctly selected (even if you don't have as many points as you thought). If you don't have enough points then you will be put back into the pool to be drawn again should the number of points required for selection be reduced.
