A question from my MIL :D
What currency do they take at singapore airport to buy drink and food while waiting for next plane? Do they take British pounds, NZ dollar or do I need to get singapore's currency? Thanks.

We used British pounds when we were there, but they gave us change in Singapore currency and then we just put it into the bank when we got here.

I didn't actually spend any money but I'm fairly certain OH paid for the Transit Lounge and the MacDonalds we got for our son with a UK credit card.

We used UK credit card in singapore for everything...no problem at all.
For those of you soon making the journey, I would suggest (if you have time) getting one of the credit cards currently offering good deals on foreign currency purchases.....if only for the journey and immediate arrival expenses in NZ. You can save quite alot not only on the not so good exchnage rates alot of cards charge, but also avoid some of those 'per transaction' additional charges too.

I think nearly every major airport I have been to has taken all currencies, they want your money and they don't care what kind!

Hi
They will take any major currency. I spent 4 hours there a month ago and was in the queue for refreshment and they were taking various currencies but gave the change back in Singapore dollars. I gave them NZ Dollars. I was also looking at an MP3 player and was told they will take any currency but I hadn't a clue if the exchange rate was reasonable.

We used a card in most places - nationwide card so no charge - we used it as a debit card and also drew singapore money from an ATM so we had some "small change" for bits and pieces.
