I would like some advice on the possibility of getting selected with only 115 points (15 points for 6 years and more work experience in area of absolute skill shoartage) with no job offer.

With the skilled work experience you will get selected. It might not be straight away, but the bonus points will mean it will be OK.

Generally the hierarchy goes:
140 point and above- selected no matter how the 140 points are met
100-135 points with a job offer
100-135 with experience in a skill shortage area claiming 15 points (more than 6 years I think?)
100-135 with experience in a skill shortage area claiming 10 points (2-6 years I think?)
100-135 with a qualification in the skill shortage area (10 bonus points for qualification).
Other applicants without any of the above qualifications as there is room, highest EOI points first. ie, 135 points, no job offer or qualification/experience

I know in theory that's the selection criteria - I would just like to know from people in the same situation how long theu waited or are still waiting that's in the same position

If you submitted today with 115 points, 15 of which are work experience for a skill on the shortage list, you would probably be selected on the next selection date. I say probably because the selection criteria could change to exclude your group and only select people with 140+ points or job offers, but that is unlikely. That would only happen if a bunch of 140+ people and people with job offers decided to submit EOIs, and generally there aren't that many of either.
The only reason you wouldn't be selected is if there were more than enough applicants at 140+ or with job offers--the only two criteria ahead of yours on the hierarchy.
There would have to be 700-800+ (about how many applications are selected every fortnight) of those 140+ point or applicants with jobs for you to not be selected.
You can look at the past selections on the INZ website and see what the trends are for selection.

The number selected and make up of points scored changes each selection, depending on how many are at each level.
For detail you can look at a lot of peoples signatures or the thread below has a link to a list of all selection points in 2006 and 2007.

As others have said, it should not be too long. But, that is just the beginning...

That sounds very positive then actually. I think I might have misunderstood the process - I was under the impression that they randomly select people from every criteria. But by saying for instance they selected 70 people in the group: 100 - 135 with 15 bonus points and no job offer it actually means that's everyone that falls into that category at the moment in the pool were selected?
At the moment we're just planning everything and gathering all the required documents etc - planning a trip to NZ in Jan and will then only submit our EOI.
But we do need to know in advance what the chances will be before getting all excited about going and then not be able to go you know...

This is correct.
Selection is only the beginning though...
Good luck!

Yessss.... Once you submit the ITA the timeframe (with job offer) is between one and three months (if all documents are correctly submitted and your case officer does not have additional queries) and can take up to two years without a job offer. This process is definitley not devised for the faint hearted (well, the medical supposedly takes care of this aspect of the selection).

That sound so negative - if you claimed all your points correctly and can proof everything - isn't it almost a given that you wil get your PR or at least your WRV?

Yes, but this is not a quick process. - unless you have a skilled job or job offer.

Not really negative...
Just first there is the EOI, then the selection, then you get to wait for a few months (up to 4 without a job offer) for them to decide your point claim is valid and to send out the ITA, then the ITA paperwork (police checks and medicals and proof of claims, oh my), then submit the ITA and if everything is as claimed there are generally no hitches...
But there is also the shipping and the moving and the selling of the house...
You might also have professional registrations and other things you need to do before you can work, so it just ends up taking a while is all. The EOI is just a step on a sometimes long and winding road.
