I'm here! In New Zealand! It all seems a bit unreal TBH, but it will sink in eventually. :nice1
The farewell to the family at Glasgow airport was a bit tearful - I won't see my wife and daughters again in the flesh till August :( - but the journey itself (with Emirates: Dubai - Melbourne Auckland, then internal AirNZ flight to Wanganui) was uneventful. I even got a few hours sleep in the hotel in Dubai.
Just a few days to recover, including a day at the test match in Napier with my brother, and I start work next Wednesday with a 7.30am meeting in a coffee shop!
Have just spent an hour or so setting up/importing my email and bookmarks, so now I'm set...

As Gil says, the next few months will fly by, we have been here nearly a year and really dont know where the time has gone.........
Good luck with the job on Wednesday - you will have to tell us how it went, and also, enjoy the cricket. Hubby went a few weeks ago to Napier and had a brill time, with a little sunburn also!
Glad to hear from you

Welcome to Wanganui! :cheers (It's not often I get the chance to say that!)
That must have been very hard to get on that plane but I'm sure August will soon be here and you'll all be reunited before you know it. :raebanana
We're about 40 mins outside Wangers and if there's anything you need, just yell.
Where will you be working Max?

Thanks to one and all. I seem to have brought the grey weather with me - sorry about that!
Just about to head off to Napier now.

For Wanganui District Council - Max is my middle name that I often choose as a username. My real first name is Pete.

Hi there
Congrats on your new start! No doubt we all hope that all those long made plans work out as expected.
Can you describe the immigration arrival procedure? Do they ask you many different questions apart from the usual ones that tourist visitors always get asked? I have this irrational nightmare of arriving, having sold my home and business, having said farewell to all those back in the UK, only to be told by the immigration authority that we have misunderstood our PR visas and can only stay for 3 months! Weird! (are there any forum links which discuss the arriving procedure?)
Thanks
Mike Neuman

I just joined the NZ passports / residents line (which actually was longer than the visitors line). When I got to the front I handed over my passport saying I was taking up my permanent residence. No questions as far as I can remember. My passport was checked over and stamped with the residence permit then handed back to me with the words 'Welcome home' (I believe they may have a script which tells them to say this to new residents). That was it. Then on to get my baggage, through bio-security and customs and out.
Sorry for the delay in replying, btw. Just got back from Napier...
