A few questions I'm a bit stuck on after reading up a bit.

1.So we're about to submit another EOI with my OH as the primary applicant. He'll be claiming points for a qualification on the skill shortage list (B.S. in computer science). Should be 130 points. I'm guessing that the ITA (when it comes) will ask for NZQA to verify the level 7 qualification. Is this correct?

2.Can we get this started now so it can be ready for the ITA when it asks or is it better to wait?

3.One of our plans was to just go to NZ, get job offers and go for PR from there.
We might still do this if the house would sell anytime soon.
Would NZQA still be required if a job offer gave more than enough points for the qualification to not matter (as much)? I've seen varying experiences on this...

4.As he is the primary applicant it also looks as if I won't need NZQA for my non ISSL degree. Is this a correct assumption?

Thanks for any ideas!

Hi Becky. I can offer help on a couple of your questions...

1. In my experience, if you want to claim the bonus points associated with your qualification, it needs to be assessed as level 7. level 6 gives the same number of points (50), but won't allow you to claim bonus points - this is the problem that I had.
However, I know there were changes recently (a few months ago) around scoring of quals, so can anyone suggest otherwise??

2. I think you can apply to NZQA for assessment as early as you like - unlike police and medical certs, I don't think the NZQA assessment has an 'expiry date'

3. I ended up getting a job offer to boost our points, so yes, a job offer would mean that level 7 assessment would not be required

Can't help with Q.4.

Good luck,
Jane
