It seemed like a good idea at the time...rather than use up our baggage allowance with all the paperwork we needed for the two months before we left, we posted it surface Royal Mail . 4 packages. That was on December 28 (ish). We had given up hope of seeing any of it again but one package arrived today. Best part of 3 months to arrive.:clap Now looking forward to the other 3. I can't even remember what's in them.

Thats Royal Mail for you!

Glad to hear one has reached you, fingers crossed the rest do safely.

I had very little faith in RM before we moved here, i have less now. We have virtually no redirected mail, i just dont know where it has gone, all they keep telling me is that all ok :no

Anyway, kep us postd when the others arrive, i hope not too much longer for you............:roll

We had problems with the re-directions too, finally got a sack full, mainly crap that went straight in the recycling but at least I got them to work for the money it cost.;)

What is it about the Royal Mail redirection service, it is sooo useless!!!!

Mine has finally activated - over a month after it was due to start, and only after repeated complaining emails from myself!! I received a wad of post the other day, one item of which was a letter from RM, marked in huge letters on the envelope - "Not to be redirected - deliver to address only".... when opened, it was to advise me of the redirection request (from 6 weeks earlier), and asking for confirmation of it proceeding?!?? I would have thought that paying them around £100 was confirmation enough!

<< rant over >>

Never mind the Royal Mail's redirection service - the NZ one isn't much better! We moved after only three weeks and although they will re-direct the stuff from the first address, they won't re-direct the redirected mail from the UK even though it's on the same street! They say it's a different company although the different company (DX?) says it's not their contract.

My daughter sent a parcel to the NZ family, surface mail, on December 10th. It just got there this last Wednesday. M-i-l sent a surface-mail parcel in the last week of November - no sign of that yet. We've been kidding her there's a postman, personally taking it, walking!

Hi

Know what you mean Lockstock, we had same problem.
When we first moved to NZ, all redirections came via NZ post, now they seem to come via Petes Post (DX they are changing to ).
Petes Post is next to useless too.........we use them for all mail outs at the Hospital i work at, and always have people complaining about not getting their apt cards.

RM also told me that if we moved in the middle of a redirection, they couldnt amend it, we would have to take a new one out for the new address.

Also, what a lot of people forget about if they move in NZ, as well as sorting your NZ post out, you have to do one for Petes Post as they operate seperately. Another gripe we get at the Hospital - they say 'well we told NZ POst we had moved.......'.

I just wish we would have our mail correctly, even coming up to nearly a year its still not happening as it should! Its just the thought of where it is going and who's had access to it that worrie me.........

They're telling you porkies Sharon! When we moved house mid-redirection period with RM I just rang them up and changed the address without any problem or additional cost. We even got a confirmation at our new address to tell us it had been changed.

However, thats about the only thing thats been easy and good about the re-direction! I won't bore you all with the details suffice to say I'm not too impressed with the service.

It's the mixed information that keeps coming out that's the problem. No-one seems to really know, and no-one seems to be accountable. It's so frustrating.:exit

Perhaps its quite a recent change because RM wouldn't allow me to change address mid contract, I had to take a new one for new address too.
