I'm doing the paperwork to lodge my application. I have a full time job as a senior software engineer. My employer usually issues a statement that has the salary, starting date, end date (if not current), job title (senior software engineer in this case), work reference and contact info. Do I need to ask my employer to include a job description? It needs some steps to ask them to change the template (I don't know why). I think the title is descriptive, what do you think?
I don't want to get into unnecessary steps and at the same time I don't want NZIS to think that anything is missing as this will delay the processing.

I don't know the specifics, but remember that you need to prove to NZIS that your job "substantially meets" the criteria given for that job in the ANZSCO list. So a JD would seem a pretty good idea, unless your job is explained in the contract.
I would check out the ANZSCO list (it's an appendix PDF somewhere on their site), look for your position, and check out their requirements. Then see if those are explicitly stated in your contract. If they aren't, I would personally go hunting for a JD.

We provided a job description , salary, start date, job title and also employer had to do a letter saying that they had tried to employ a Joiner here in NZ with no luck, and they had to put down who they advertised job with!

Thank you for your replies. Probably I did not explain my inquiry correctly. I don't have a job offer or a job in NZ. I mean my current full time job in Egypt, which I claim points for. My title is Senior Software Engineer, this is stated in the employer statement.

Hello,
I think the standard statement from your employer will suffice. If you can add an offical looking job description that will help.
For previous jobs we sent in various (translated) recommendation letters.
Seemed to have done the trick.
Good luck!
