My EOI was selected with 110 points with no job offer and bonus points for a recognized qualification in long term skills shortage area. I completed the NZQA with level 9 assessment of my Masters degree and after completing the medicals i have submitted my ITA. I would like to know what is the criteria of giving a PR or WTR? All my documents are in order except for a borderline elevation of Blood pressure, which is under control with medication and slightly elevated Trigly counts (I am 37 years old). Could somebody tell me the chances of me getting a PR or WTR?

Impossible for them to give WTR with no job offer. As far as I know if you apply for PR, and meet the criteria, that's what you get. In certain circumstances where the criteria isn't met and they notice that the application meets WTR rules then they'll offer you that. This includes a job offer, min $50k amongst other bits and bobs.
Medicals go/ no go limits are the same for both routes.
If you have applied for PR and then got the ITA then the rest is just a formality provided all the things you claimed in th EOI can be prooved. So the chances are very good of getting PR, in my opinion.

As far as I know, you may be given a WTR even if you don't have a job offer. You then will be required to find a job offer that meets certain requirements within a period (I think 6 months) in order to be granted the PR.

Thanks Allen ur reply was promising. Is there anyone with a similar situation of having an ITA with 110 points and no job offer, but with bonus points for a qualification in LTSS and got a PR and not WTR?

Alan's response may be promising but it is wrong.

If you apply for a PR and don't have a job offer, then NZIS have to determine if you will settle in NZ. If they think that you will, they will grant you a WTR and if not then they will grant you a limited WTR instead.

As mesh2008 says, if you get a WTR, then you will be given 6 months to get a job and settle in NZ at which time they will grant you a PR, of course if you fail to get a suitable job then no PR will be given.

AFAIK, they use the interview to help them determine if you will settle, so it is important in this case to have the answers ready for them.

When I submitted my EOI (in 2005 just before min points increased), I had:

- About 110 points
- No job offer
-10 yrs work experience in a short- and long-term skills shortage area

Was expecting WTR, but offered PR (Nov 2006)

Perhaps based on interview it was felt I would settle quite easily there...

Any specific suggestions to face the interview from NZI? What is the nature of interview and what type of questions do we face? How do they decide the ability of applicant in settling down in New Zealand?

I believe it depends on the country that you are in, for example in the UK it is normally just a phone interview.

The types of questions has been discussed before many times so would suggest a search, but here is a useful starting point:- interview with CO questions (http://www.emigratenz.org/forum/showpost.php?p=164190&postcount=8)

They decide based on your answers really, how much homework you have done etc.

Yes, that was a very accurate list of types of questions that might be posed during a phone interview with NZIS.

Check also this link: http://www.emigratenz.org/forum/showthread.php?t=6142&highlight=nzis+interview+questions

Or another related post by "Juniper" - she had a great list of questions that I found immensely helpful when preparing for my interview. Use the search feature to see what you can find.
