I just wanted to share a significant step we have made towards our move to NZ as I'm sure plenty of you have been through ups and downs on your journeys so far.

OH and I are ready to move in terms of paperwork, him a kiwi and I've got PR but not quite there yet emotionally. Ironically it's more him than me - I'd have just upped and gone ages ago but he's found it harder to get his head around the move. He wants to go back for family, lifestyle but at times has become hung up about work and finding appropriate job etc, has anyone else been in similar situations, I'm sure we aren't alone. BUT this morning he's been really proactive and starting looking properly at vacancies etc, and we're going to the London expo, and suddenly everything's changed and looking alot brighter!

This underlines what a BIG thing it is we're all into. I hope you both get/continue to feel comfortable with it all.

that must have been a really good NZ dream he had last night ;)

Glad to hear you are both now feeling positive about things :D

It happens. My OH was like that - it took him nearly 12 months to finally decide. Not sure what prompted him but shortly after Xmas he said to submit our EOI as he was now sure he wanted to go. He is now more positive than I am (I get the odd day when I think 'Am I doing the right thing?') It is a really good feeling when you both want the same thing. Good luck at the expo.

Thanks - it really helps to know that others have similar thoughts/feelings etc. Until I joined the forum I underestimated how good it is to know I'm not alone and how supportive it feels.

After 22 years in England my OH kept putting off returning though knew it was inevitable as family were getting older etc. He worried more about finding work and whether I would settle than I did, but then it all came together and once we'd committed by arranging shipping, visa (for me), booked flights etc he was fine. Good luck with it all :)

Thanks Gemini - just like my OH. In the 12 years he's been here he's had serious bouts of wanting to go back but as soon as it became a real possibility and I started the paperwork trail it become more of an issue!! He's feeling so much better now he's starting looking at jobs/companies - we just need to start thinking about all the other stuff now, what to do with the house etc etc.... :roll
