Well, that was unexpected.

I applied for partnership based residency in January, had a request for a letter from my doctor and a retest of one of the medical checks, and was prepared for lots of grief about it (I'm quite overweight). Then yesterday I got an email saying I was approved.

I guess its easy to get stressed out when reading some of horror stories on this site, but for me at least it was all pretty straightforward.

My wife feels like a great weight has been lifted from her shoulders, as we'd arranged everything before getting approval.

Its all feeling very real now. We're flying out of the UK for good on 8th Sept for a holiday in China, touching down in Auckland 2nd October.

Nope - my partnership visa took 4 weeks from submission to approval, and I know there are others on here who have had just as quick turnarounds. In general, partnership applications are processed very quickly.

My wifes partnership visa took 4.5 weeks. Apparently they were busy :laugh

Beats the 3 months and £900 it cost me to get Right of Abode in the UK!

I actually applied and got my visa through the same category but think mine took about 3 months!! (Which we thought was quick until we've read about yours!!!:laugh )

We arrived here in NZ 2 1/2 wks ago and we've got a car, I've just got a job and fingers crossed we'll find a house next week to rent!!...

You're gonna love it here!!
