I was just wondering for those of you who have bought a fridge or freezer over, how did you stop them from going mouldy? I know you should leave door slightly open but would think it difficult when they are going to put a cardboard box around the items.

Ours is now in the garage after three months in caerdboard packing. Apart from the fact it won't fit in the new house, it smells like there's been a corpse in there. I've tried the bi-carb treatment - even bathroom cleaner. So I'm not help to you whatsoever. Sorry.:)

I did read a tip about putting tea bags in it... (unused ones obviously) apparenly they act like silica gel, and plus they smell ok!
I just left ours open for a couple of weeks before it got shipped to ensure it dried out properly

I cleaned ours out with a clear, aroma free antibacterial cleanser from Asda, paying particular attention to the seals.
Like Sal, I let them dry out in the conservatory for a few days and then put about half a dozen tea bags (Yorkshire tea bags - oooh the waste!! LOL) in each.
Did the same with the washer/dryer and the dishwasher too.
We had ours in storage in NZ, so altogether they were packed up for approx 4 months.
They were all fresh as daisies when we opened them and all are now being used.
Hope that helps,
Julie

I have heard the following work, though I haven't tried them myself:
- dry rice (it absorbs moisture, which is why many restaurants put grains of rice in their salt pots)
- cat litter (again it absorbs moisture)
- charcoal (ditto, plus it absorbs odours)
If you try all three of these as well as the tea bags you should be all right!

We were told to wipe the inside with Vanilla essence which we did - no problems with our 3 we bought over!
