Hi I was wondering if anyone can offer me advice, I've recently graduated with a BA in Business Studies (not an honours degree) is that worth less than an honours degree does anyone know? I presume it probably is but finding information on the subject seems to be difficult.

I think honours and Bachelors are both worth 50 points, while Masters and PhDs are worth 55.

Hi Dave.
Yes, they both attract the same number of points (50). However, the basic degree only rates as level 6 with NZQA, you need the Hons to get it classified as Level 7. This becomes important if you are wanting to claim those all important bonus points.....

I checked the NZIS website and I can't see anything about the Hons! According to the points indicator. If you have a qualification in one of the future growth areas, you are awarded bonus points. My BSc (no Hons) was pre-assessed as level 7 (PAR), was this a trick?

oh actually my degree is: bachelor's degree of computer science and autoamtic control with degree of honor
But there was no extra year, just a certain level of academic achievement (grade must be over 75% in each year to get the degree). Is this equivalent to BSc Hons? sorry for the silly question but I don't understand the English education system.
Thanks

Hi mesh2008,

The only way to be sure is when NZQA gets back to you on its assessment. I've read some posts here from people with nursing qualifications which were pre-assessed as Level 5, but eventually got classified as a Level 4...
