Could anybody advise me of the feasability of getting work as a sheet metalworker or fabricator/welder in the Christchurch area?
I am time served with 30 years experience(my god)
My wife and I are looking to move out mid October, We are toying with the idea of coming out on a visitors visa, is that worth the risk?

Go for it. There is a ton of work and a massive shortage of tradesmen. My husband is in the same occupation (a stainless steel fabricator) and they are very overloaded with work at the moment.

We live in South Canterbury (2 hours south of ChCh) and there are a lot of projects happening that are in desperate need of more staff.

If you have any specific questions I could ask my husband for the info.
