I'm new to all this. Only heard about this site a few days ago and have enjoyed reading about you'se all.

Wondered if there is anyone out their who was originally from Lake District. Because I live in a nice area anyhow with not too many cars etc. and not use to the hustle and bustle of city life, wondered how NZ compares to here.

We've been talking about emigrating since the New Year and going to see an agent next week to 'pick their brains'. (We've took on board alot of advice you have all mentioned about agents, by the way) Once we've had this meeting we are going to start the ball rolling and want to have a job sorted for my hubby before we make the final move though. Need to know we have enough money coming in to support the 2 kids.

Sounds like we're in the same position as you. We've just sent our assessment forms off to an agency and are hoping to get job(s) sorted before we can set off to a new life - also got 2 kids to support.

Ours are 15 and 10. 15 year old is due to take his GCSE's in June, so we can't do anything until they're all done and dusted :hopeso

We had 3 weeks holiday last August and toured round NZ in a camper van. It was absolutely fab. We have done so much talking and thinking since we arrived home. We are 100% sure it is where we want to be - new challenges and a different way of life - so much better for the kids.

In reply to tyour question - Yes!
Husband and I came out to Dunedin April 2004 and had twins in July - little home-grown kiwis!! We come from SW Cumbria, near Broughton-in Furness and Millom area. It was rural, quiet, no traffic jams etc but hey, here is better again for the kids especially!

We researched jobs ourselves and felt agents charge a hell of a lot for what they do - but as you say, you are aware of all that.

If we can be any help to you, please send me a PM. Life with work, 6month old twin boys is pretty hectic. so bear with me I will reply to your questions but it may take me a day or two!
